What a match this was - Newcastle All Blacks champions!
The Men's final is tense.

You can tell all the brothers are so tired from their weekend so far, but they are still bringing it.

Walgett had all the early running and ball, and they opened the scoring after Ben Barba stepped through from a scrum.

But the Newcastle All Blacks worked their way back - with young Cuban Piper catching a bomb to touch down for their first.

Some ill disclipline allowed NAB to edge in front 8-6, and then they decided to let an Adrian Davis bomb bounce. He regathered the ball before giving it to Callan Briggs to touch down in the corner.

Both teams had a couple more chances but most of the match was played through the ruck. Which is very very tough !

NAB leads 12-6 at the break.

Again, Walgett began the half on fire, coming out and dominating the early possession.

Ben Barba was instrumental in their second try, running the ball on the last tackle and finding Windsor Bowie who dived in the corner.

WAC looked to be in control but a couple of penalties allowed NAB back on the attack and they didnt waste their chance - Lincoln Smith took a blindside scoot before linking up with Callan Briggs for his second.

A massive break by Walgett winger Brenton Baira looked to be a certain try but he couldnt regather his own kick ahead.

Newcastle continued to apply the pressure, with Adrian Davis putting in a chip for the in goal. Ben Barba dropped the ball, Davis scooped up the pill and dived over to give NAB a 12-point lead.

Walgett crossed again to bring things within 6 but that is where it stayed. Newcastle crowned winners of the 2022 Knockout, the 50th and didn't they celebrate!!

Dunghutti Connexions hold on to win the Women's comp
A thrilling end to this one - but the Dunghutti side were too strong.

What an effort.

Father and son to play final together in first KO
Love these yarns, how good.

Long-serving Newcastle All Blacks player Billy Towers is currently playing the first Knockout alongside his son PJ, and now they are set to have a run in the Grand Final together.

"It's a dream come true. Every Blackfulla when you play you want to have that game with your young fulla," Billy said.

Young PJ said there was "no better feeling" than having a run with his Dad.

As you can see PJ is a fair-sized fulla already, but Billy reckons he still wouldn't be able to give the old boy a hiding.

"Yeah he tries ... maybe one day," he said with a laugh.

An emotional win for Cabbage Tree Island
What a win for Cabbo. After all the setbacks for the Northern NSW community this year with the floods, how great was it to see their U17s Girls claim the title.

Cabbo beat South Taree 16-8 in a very entertaining match, with an outpouring of emotion as they all embraced on the sideline after the game.

LaPa take the 15s Boys title
La Perouse have a Knockout title this year - the Under 15s boys held off the Blacktown Red Belly Warriors 16-12.

It was a game that was spicy at stages - with a couple of the brothers having a sit down to cool the heels.

A great result that had probably the biggest post-match celebration we have seen today - they are loving it.

Shoutout to the mob in the Kangaroos and Jillaroos
Dassim! After the Knockout is done be good to see some mob carving up the World Cups too.

Latrell, Foxy, Jacky Wighton, and Reuben Cotter have been named in the Kangaroos squad, while there's a handful in the Jillaroos.

Chapman, Fuimaono, Harden, Johnston, Joseph, Kernick and Upton. They got this.

Few of the Women also killed it in the NRL Women Grand Final - shoutout to Ron Griffiths for claiming the title as Newcastle coach.

Also mad to see Caitlin Moran chuck on the last try for Yasmin Clydsdale.

Condolences to our brother Deano Widders and the Eels.

Waterloo way too solid in the 15's Girls
Well the Under 15's Girls Grand Final was a wipeout.

The Waterloo Storm easily accounted for Gadhu Sisters 42-0.

A very strong side - and aren't they stoked! Bless!

Scotty Briggs clutch - again!
He was the man who sunk La Perouse with a last minute field goal in the 2018 Grand Final - and the Newcastle All Blacks half did it again.

Game on the line in golden point and he had on a deft kick for his nephew Callan to pounce.

While it was a sapping contest, the NAB boys say they still have plenty in the tank, and plenty of passion as well as they had a big yarn post-match.

I caught Scotty for a quick chat and he is ready for WAC. It is a repeat of the 2014 decider (which Walgett won) and its going to be a cracker.

What an epic!
The Newcastle All Blacks will take on Walgett Aboriginal Connection in the Koori Knockout Grand Final after a thrilling golden point win over Namina Common Connection.

NAB got out to an 18-6 lead at halftime but back-to-back tries Namina brought them into the match. Led by Tyrone Peachey and Justin Toomey-White, the Common Connection moved the ball side to side and found space in the All Blacks defence.

Both teams traded final tries to level at 22-all before a frantic final play threatened to give us a winner!!

NAB had the better of the first period of extra time, AJ Davis sprayed a field goal attempt wide to the left, while both teams made crucial errors.

In the second 5 minutes, Davis's further attempt at field goal was touched by Namina which led to a drop out.

Scott Briggs then had a shot but it was charged down by Peachey - Briggs then knocked on trying to regather.

But another handling error from Namina allowed him to make up for it.

Briggs put in a smart bouncing grubber for his nephew Callan to gather and score the matchwinner.

What a game. Both teams will be absolutely buggered. Bet WAC were sitting there hoping they kept going lol.

Yowies too strong for Wellington
The Newcastle Yowies have defeated defending champions Wellington Wedgetails 20-6 to book their place in the Women's decider.

They are looking to add to the titles they won in 2018 and 2013.

Walgett first team through in the Men's
Walgett Aboriginal Connection has qualified for their first final since 2014 after a tough-fought 28-18 win over the Castlereagh All Blacks.

The result was in the balance until the final minute, with CAB half Jason Boney keeping his side in the match with a solid kicking game.

An unbelievable try saving tackle on Ben Barba by CAB's Mitch Cleary was a massive highlight of the game.

WAC just finished too solid scoring a couple of late tries to seal the win.

Dunghutti Women through to the final!
A very tough match against La Perouse but Dhungutti Connexions Women finished up 16-6 winners.

Nothing like a runaway try right on fulltime to seal it in front of all your passionate supporters!
