Mailman also acknowledged her peers and those who had helped her craft out a career spanning nearly two decades.

“What a friggin’ honour to be amongst these incredible women.”

She said, “Redfern Now has been about integrity in Indigenous storytelling. It has been such a wonderful experience to be a part of these stories that push through the expected reality.”
The series produced by Blackfella Films has been hailed as ground-breaking for tackling modern day Indigenous issues in a gritty, raw and honest approach.

Mailman shot to fame in 1998 when she made her film debut as Nona in the Australian independent film Radiance for which she won the AFI Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

She has since become one of Australia's most prominent Indigenous actors.
