Speaking with SBS Punjabi, Miss Kaur shared that it was a challenging journey, which made her and her family feel immense pride within the community.
Miss Kaur completed the HSC with an ATAR of 93 and a band 6 in Punjabi Continuers.
Starting her senior year at high school, Miss Kaur had the option of discontinuing a subject for the HSC.
I had the option of dropping Punjabi or legal studies. I chose Punjabi because I felt I had the potential. I could connect with so many people.Prabhjot Kaur
The passion for her mother tongue encouraged her to continue putting in extra time to study Punjabi throughout her senior years.
“I spent at least half an hour studying Punjabi every second day of the week,” shared Miss Kaur

Alongside this, she also shared various techniques she used to refine her skills in the language.
Completing the homework set by her teacher Miss Jiwanjot Kaur, practising speaking at home and doing practice papers were among the many techniques Miss Kaur used.

Miss Kaur credited her teacher Miss Jiwanjot Kaur and her family’s support for her achievements.
“My whole family was supportive. They made sure I took care of myself throughout the senior years, especially my dad, when it came to Punjabi,” shared Miss Kaur

Miss Kaur shares her passion for Punjabi with future HSC students and their parents.
“Whatever subject you study, you should study it passionately and happily. You should support your children and help them with whatever they set their minds to because their parent’s support is integral for any child.”
