'Feeling grateful and humbled': Dr Parwinder Kaur on receiving the Australian Sikh Woman of the Year award

Adding another accolade to her work, Perth-based Dr Parwinder Kaur has now been recognised as Australian Sikh Woman of the Year for her substantial contributions to scientific research in Australia.


An initiative of Sikh Youth Australia and Young Sikh Professionals Network, the Australian Sikh Awards for Excellence aimed to appreciate the positive contributions made by Punjabi Sikhs to the broader Australian community, were announced in Sydney at a gala ceremony.

The award ceremony was held on 17 June in Sydney and there were around 24 individuals shortlisted across 8 different categories.

Dr Parwinder Kaur has been one of the shortlisted candidates who won the award in the ‘Australian Sikh Woman of the Year’ category.

While talking to SBS Punjabi Dr Kaur said that she is feeling honoured to receive this award.

Reminiscing her personal journey, she credits her success to another powerful woman - her mother.

Her message to other women out there - "Never stop pursuing your dreams and passion."
