The latest edition of Australian Sikh Games held in Adelaide from March 29 to 31, has been hailed as a monumental achievement with organisers expressing gratitude to volunteers and cleaning services for their tireless efforts in ensuring a seamless post-event cleanup.

The 36th Australian Sikh Games held in Adelaide from March 29 to 31 saw thousands of competitors vying in various sporting codes, with many sporting and cultural experiences drawing thousands of spectators.
Organizers hailed the event as a monumental achievement highlighting record attendance exceeding 100,000 individuals over three days, with over 5,000 athletes from 283 teams competing nationally and internationally.
"Thousands of attendees travelled from interstate and other countries, contributing millions to South Australia's local economy, with the event injecting around $20 million," said media coordinator Mintu Brar.
"I express my gratitude to volunteers and cleaning services for their tireless efforts in ensuring a seamless post-event cleanup."

"200 volunteers cleaned every nook and corner of the grounds the very next morning before handing back the ground to the council. The grounds are cleaner than ever before," he added.
The highlights of the games included a showcase of a Punjab-inspired village scene at one of the arenas, local artistic talents performing on stage, stalls displaying culture, heritage, and art, as well as a special 'Leadership Forum' for women.

Additionally, this year, sports such as chess and boxing were added to the games, complementing the existing lineup of soccer, hockey, volleyball, athletics, kabaddi, badminton, and more.
Hockey competitions were moved to another venue to accommodate all the games.
In addition to the sporting events that drew massive crowds, thousands of attendees were also treated to free vegetarian meals and snacks throughout the event, adding to the inclusive and vibrant atmosphere of the Australian Sikh Games.
