Arun Sharma came to Australia in 2009 and up until 2014, was working two jobs; one as a chef in an Indian restaurant and the other, as a taxi driver. Both of these jobs, according to him, were detrimental to his health and a major contributing factor to his massive weight gain.

In 2014 Arun Sharma was 134 kilo and at his heaviest when he decided it was time for a change.

The wakeup call came when one day his passengers didn’t pay him the due fare and also punched him before running away. When Arun went to the hospital, he could barely breathe. The doctor attending to him warned him about his excessive weight and advised him to bring it down. It was then, Arun decided it was time for a change and quit his taxi job.

From the later part of 2014 and start of 2015, Arun started going to the gym regularly. In his conversation with SBS Punjabi, he mentioned that he struggled in the beginning and could barely run on the tread mill. But it was his sheer determination and will power that got him through the early stages of his weight loss.

Arun lost almost 40 kilos in the first year only by running on the tread mill and drinking lots of water.

These results not only gave him encouragement to keep going towards his ultimate goal of a fit body but also gave his self-confidence a massive boost. Once a shy boy, Arun now felt he could go out and socialize more and do the things that he could only dream of one, like sky diving which he tried in 2016.

Today, Arun does not miss a day at the gym and works out for at least two hours in one session, sometimes visiting the gym twice a day. He changed his diet from fried food, take-away and soft drinks to strictly no sugar and salt diet comprising of only lean meat and green vegetables and at least 5 liters of water each day.
