A gun has been found by Northern Territory Police near where three people were discovered deceased at an Outstation north of Alice Springs on Sunday afternoon.
Police initially responded to a report that two deceased people had been discovered, but on arrival, they located the bodies of a 41-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and an infant child.
"Police located a firearm at the scene and we are treating this as a domestic violence incident," Acting Commander Mark Grieve said.
"This was a horrific event, and our hearts go out to the family and community members affected by this tragedy."

"The Community Resilience and Engagement Command team, including the Aboriginal Liaison Officers, are providing integral community engagement and support to those affected.
"We are also offering support to first responders and investigators involved."
Territory Families has confirmed previous dealings with those who died.
"The event in Central Australia is an absolute tragedy and Territory Families will work closely with police who are undertaking the investigation," the Department said in a brief statement.
"The child was not in the care of the CEO. The family was known to Territory Families."
"No further comment can be provided as the investigation takes place."
A file will be prepared for the coroner.
