Want to play the NIMAs? Triple J are looking for a deadly Indigenous artist

To help kick off Reconciliation Week recently, Triple J Unearthed are on the hunt for one deadly Indigenous artist to perform at this year's National Indigenous Music Awards aka the NIMAs.

The NIMAs will kick off in Darwin on 6 August and for the fifth year running, Triple J's Unearthed competition is offering the chance to be flown to Darwin - from anywhere in Australia - to perform at the event alongside the best and brightest musicians. Not only that, there's a tidy performance fee and budget towards travel and accommodation as part of the prize.

The winner will be following in the footsteps of previous comp winners Thelma Plum, Robbie Miller, last year's victor Zane Francis, and Philly, who scored the National New Talent of the Year award .

To be in the running, artists just need to have their best tracks uploaded to triplejunearthed.com by Sunday 3 July and you can head here for a full breakdown of the T's & C's.

If you're not an emerging music-maker but still want to get involved, nominations are now open for the 2016 NIMAs.

Presented by MusicNT, this year's ceremony will revolve around the theme of 'protest songs' to mark several big milestones, including the 25th anniversary of Yothu Yindi's iconic anthem 'Treaty'.
