True to form, Samantha Harris slays Fashion Week 2017

The city of Sydney is doused in frills, heels and florals for Fashion Week 2017, and yesterday, major model and celebrity, Samantha Harris stole the show.

Runway veteran, Dunghutti model, Samantha Harris took to the catwalk like a fish to water yesterday for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia () in Sydney. She walked as an exclusive for high-end swimwear label , who has a , with satisfied customers such as, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Teresa Palmer .

The swimwear showing at MBFWA showcased six Australian labels, will duskii closing the show and Sam opening and walking the finish of its Resort '18 collection.

Being one of Australia's fashion icons, audiences gasped in awe as Sam emerged from backstage, and phones came out like a Mexican wave, with everyone wanting to get a snap the celebrity. 

duskii's 'Waikki' collection is inspired by the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, and Sam walked the show sporting decorative body art along her arm, which were the same patterns and motif as the print of the featured swimwear.
The painting took just over 2 hrs and was handpainted by textile designer, Neha Gupte, who designed the original fabric for the Resort collection. This was her first time working with body paint and Gupta told NITV that Duskii designer, Patreece Botheras wanted the elements of the print to sit on Sam's arm like a piece of armour. The design featured birds and insects,

"I have a background studying botany and ecology, and as such, nature makes a major part of my inspiration," Neha told NITV.

Pandering to the audience's affection, the finale of the show had Sam come back on the runway adorably holding the hands of two young girls.

So far, Sam is the only Indigenous model in MBFWA and duskii designer, Botheras said that she has always wanted to work with Sam, but it wasn't until they were working out next to each other at their local gym that she had the opportunity to ask her. 

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2017 is at Sydney Carriageworks from 14 - 19 May.
