Adam Giles
Adam Giles is the Chief Minister of the NT. He was born in the Blue Mountains, NSW, and secured his first job at a bakery at the age of 12.
He worked in property management before moving to Canberra to take up a policy advisor role with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He first ran for politics after becoming frustrated with how welfare for Indigenous people was administered when he was working with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, and was elected in 2008. He was sworn in as Chief Minister in March 2013.
Bess Price
Bess Price is a Warlpiri woman, born in Yuendumu in the Tanami Desert, who was elected as the member for the seat of Stuart in 2012.
She speaks a multitude of Indigenous languages – her first language is Warlpiri. She became a mother at age 13, and survived years of domestic violence before leaving the child’s father at age 18, when she began studying to become a teacher. Ms Price has worked in interpreting, media, language education and small business management.
Francis Kurrupuwu 
Francis Kurrupuwu lives on the Tiwi Islands and is the member for the seat of Arafura. He has been involved in the Church on the islands for over 30 years, and has been a minister and parish councillor.
Mr Kurrupuwu has served as the chairperson of the Tiwi Islands Local Government, and is also the manager of the Red Cross on the islands.
Ian Gumbula
Ian Gumbula is a retired school teacher, originally from the Galiwinku community but now living in Ngukurr. He is a candidate in the seat of Arnhem.
He has worked with the federal Department of Families, Housing and Community services in the community engagement division. More recently he has worked with Katherine Regional Health and related services.
Charlie Yunupingu
Charlie Yunupingu is a senior Yolngu man and has been involved with the Government’s house rebuilding program in Galiwin’ku since the region was damaged by cyclones in 2015. He is a candidate in the seat of Nhulunbuy.
Mr Yunupingu says building houses in remote bush areas is a way to create jobs and fix overcrowding in existing accomodation.
Tony Jack
Tony Jack is a Garrawa man now living on his outstation near the Robinson River. He is running as a candidate in the seat of Barkly.
Mr Jack has been the mayor of Roper Gulf Shire since 2008, as well as sitting as a board member on the National Australian Local Government Association. Mr Jack also started an Indigenous AFL competition as part of his work with the Borroloola Rodeo committee — the league now has five teams.
Territory Labor
Ken Vowles 
Ken Vowles is a sitting Labor MP in the seat of Johnston and is currently the opposition’s spokesperson for Indigenous Policy.
He is among the Territory’s most famous cricketers and has travelled the world playing the sport, but has now returned to Darwin to spend more time with his family. Mr Vowles was born and raised in the NT, and attended Jingili Pre School and Primary School.
Ngaree Ah Kit
Ngaree Ah Kit is a 34-year-old Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidate running in the seat of Karama.
She says she is passionate about suicide prevention, and in 2010 helped establish the Darwin Region Indigenous Suicide Prevention Network. She has a family history of politics, with her father serving in government as the member for Arnhem from 1995-2005.
Lawrence Costa
Lawrence Costa lives on his outstation Pitjarmirra just north of Melville Island, and is running as a candidate in the seat of Arafura.
He has experience in a variety of council roles and was the CEO of the Tiwi Islands Local Government before council amalgamations across the Territory in 2008. Lawrence himself has Tiwi heritage and has more than 20 years’ experience working in remote Aboriginal communities.
Chansey Paech
Chansey Paech is a candidate for the seat of Namatjira and is proud of his Indigenous heritage, with links to the Eastern Arrernte and Gurindji people.
Mr Paech has been a member of Territory Labor since he was a teenager. In 2012, he was elected to the Alice Springs Town Council. He says he enjoys the arts, gardening and horse riding.
Selena Uibo
Selena Uibo is a candidate in the seat of Arnhem. Her Indigenous heritage links her to the Nunggubuyu and Wanandilyakwa people of south-east Arnhem Land.
Ms Uibo studied in education at the University of Queensland before moving back to the Territory to work at Casuarina Senior College. In 2012, she moved to work in her mother’s community of Numbulwar, where she is now the acting senior teacher at the local school.
The Greens
Vincent Forrester
Vincent Forrester is an activist and artist and with Luritja and Arrernte heritage. He grew up on a cattle station in the Angas Downs area, and learnt Aboriginal cultural customs from his grandparents. He is a candidate for the seat of Namatjira.
He has a history of involvement with the land rights movement. He helped set up the original Tent Embassy in Canberra and worked as an Indigenous affairs advisor for the governments of Malcolm Fraser and Bob Hawke in the 1980s.
Independents
Yingiya Mark Guyula
Yingiya Mark Guyula is a Yolngu elder running as an independent candidate in the seat of Nhulunbuy. He has been endorsed by the Yolngu Nations Assembly, and says he would govern according to Indigenous, not British Westminster, customs.
He is an advocate of a Treaty, and is using online crowdfunding to resource his campaign.
Jack 'Warngkurli' Green
Jack 'Wongili' Green is a Borroloola Elder, artist and activist. He is running as an independent candidate in the seat of Barkly.
He was the winner of the 2015 Peter Rawlinson Award for environmental conservation, and opposes large-scale open cut mines like the McArthur River Mine.
