Samantha Harris has established herself as a successful model in the Australian fashion industry, but despite her success she has revealed she is subjected to constant online racism.
The Dunghutti woman first shot to fame at age 13 when she was discovered in a Girlfriend magazine modeling competition.
However, the model who normally stays graceful and calm spoke out on social media against the “keyboard warriors” she said are harassing her.
Alongside a photo of her at last weekend’s Moet and Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day in Sydney the model explained her frustration.
“What does get me down is that all the negativity that one photo can cause the amount of hurtful & racists comments I receive is unbelievable,” she wrote.
“This isn't the first time it's happened but enough is enough I'm not everyone's cup of tea and I'm totally fine with that…These keyboard warriors don't even understand how hurtful their words can be.”
Harris is the second Indigenous woman to ever grace the cover of Vogue magazine.
Back in 2013, she spoke out against the lack of diversity in the fashion industry.
“I would love to see more diversity on the catwalks and in campaigns because Australia itself is such a multicultural country, why don’t we celebrate that,” she said at the time.
