Court rules hotel room detainment of Kurdish refugee was legal

A judge has ruled the use of hotels to detain refugees was legal. The case was brought by Kurdish refugee, Mostafa Azimitibar, who brought the case to the Federal Court after he was detained in two Melbourne hotels for a period of 14 months. But in handing down his ruling the judge said such detention 'lacked humanity.'
