NSW has recorded five new cases of COVID-19 as the cluster at a private clinic grows and patients at a radiology practice are warned to monitor for symptoms.
One of the new coronavirus cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday is a social contact of a previously confirmed case from an unknown source in Sydney, NSW Health said on Sunday.
Another is linked to the Liverpool private clinic cluster and a third locally acquired case is under investigation, with people who were at Lakemba Radiology between midday to 2.30pm on 1 October told they are now casual contacts of a known case.
"These people should monitor for symptoms carefully and if symptoms develop get tested immediately for COVID-19 and self-isolate," NSW Health's Dr Christine Selvey said on Sunday.
The two other cases were diagnosed in overseas travellers who are in hotel quarantine.
A virus alert has also been issued for a number of businesses in west and south-west Sydney including Bunnings, Chemist Warehouse and Aldi.
NSW Health alerted the public after confirmed cases of COVID-19 attended the following five shops:
Big W in Carnes Hill – October 4, 3pm – 4.30pm
Aldi in Edmondson Park – October 4, 6.30pm – 7.3pm
Chemist Warehouse in Casula – 6 October, 12.30pm – 1pm
Bunnings in Crossroads – 7 October, 2pm – 3pm
Costco in Casula – 9 October, 3pm – 3.30pm
Anyone who visited the shops is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop.
NSW Health said people must then remain isolated until they receive a negative test.
It comes after a nurse working at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney tested positive to the virus.
NSW Health's Dr Michael Douglas said the nurse is believed to have acquired coronavirus outside the hospital.
"The nurse provided specialised care to a single patient, and had limited contact with a very small number of colleagues," NSW Health said in a statement on Saturday.
There were 12,823 COVID-19 tests reported in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday, compared with 15,439 in the previous 24 hours.
