Scott Morrison has denied being snubbed at the launch of the NSW Liberal Party election campaign.
The prime minister attended the launch in Penrith on Sunday but was not given a speaking role.
By contrast, Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten delivered a keynote speech at the NSW Labor launch.
Mr Morrison flatly rejected suggestions the state branch was trying to hide him, due to concerns the federal party's prospects may wash into the state result.
"It's an all state affair today, neither the former prime minister John Howard or I spoke, it was all about the team here today," he told reporters outside the event.
"I'm very happy to be here and happy to be participating in the campaign here in NSW, which I've already been doing."
