Soldiers will have greater flexibility in choosing their own service boots and packs under a federal Labor government.
Australian Defence Force personnel would be able to choose boots from a list of pre-approved footwear compiled by a panel of providers to ensure they can "perform at their best".
"Our ADF members aren't one size fits all, and their boots shouldn't be, either," Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said in a statement on Friday.
