* How Opposition Leader Bill Shorten is stumbling and doesn't know his own tax or climate policies.

* Indigenous health and its economic credentials, focusing on bigger surpluses rather than further tax cuts to show it can responsibly manage the budget.

* Voters had until 8pm on Thursday to make sure they were on the electoral roll.

* Senator Tim Storer announced he won't recontest his South Australian seat after just a year in parliament.

* The latest unemployment figures showed the jobless rate edged up 0.1 points to five per cent.

* Clive Palmer, who is now standing for the Senate, announced former rugby league star Greg Dowling as his candidate for the Townsville seat of Herbert.
