FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN: DAY 3

WHERE THE LEADERS CAMPAIGNED

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison: Western and Inner Sydney (seats of Reid and Sydney)

* Labor leader Bill Shorten: Central Coast NSW and Sydney (seats of Robertson and Reid)

WHAT THE COALITION WANTED TO TALK ABOUT

WHAT LABOR WANTED TO TALK ABOUT:

Revamping the 'slip, slop, slap' anti-cancer campaign as part of Labor's overall cancer fighting strategy.

* Labor Curtin candidate and pro-Palestine campaigner Melissa Parke quit after she reportedly said she saw a pregnant refugee forced to drink bleach at a Gaza checkpoint.

* Three Liberal candidates in safe Victorian Labor seats were disendorsed after two of them had dual citizenship problems and one has a public service job.

THEY SAID WHAT?

"Ni hao." - Prime Minister Scott Morrison to a woman in Strathfield, who then replied "Oh no no, I'm Korean".

TWEETED:

"I apologise to Ms France for my comments yesterday. My argument with the Labor candidate is about how our respective policies would affect the people of Dickson." - Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton @peterdutton_MP
