FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN: DAY 29

--

WHERE THE LEADERS ARE CAMPAIGNING

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison: is headed to the northern NSW seat of Cowper, where former independent Rob Oakeshott is having another go

* Labor leader Bill Shorten: in Queensland, starting in Brisbane

--

WHAT THE COALITION WANTS TO TALK ABOUT

Its ability to create a strong economy as the election campaign moves into the final stages, and probably questions over the cost of Labor's climate policy.

--

WHAT LABOR WANTS TO TALK ABOUT:

Its economic management as shadow treasurer Chris Bowen prepares to release Labor's costings on Friday.

--

WHAT IS MAKING NEWS:

* The Liberal party is preparing for its campaign launch in Melbourne on Sunday, aka Mothers Day. Neither Tony Abbott nor Malcolm Turnbull is expected there, so no Liberal version of the Gillard/Rudd smile-off sent at last Sunday's Labor launch.

* The political debate about election campaign debates won't be an issue at the next poll. Both leaders agreed to an independent debates commission to determine the style and number of debates at the next federal election. The debate could be within the media about who gets to host,

* The Climate Council will release a report on Thursday, predicting the value of Australian property will fall dramatically unless urgent steps are taken to address climate change. They will hold a press conference in Sydney later in the morning.

THEY SAID WHAT?

"If you win you'll have more people to promote because so many of your current ministry is leaving." - Shorten to Morrison during the debate.

"If you win you'll have more people to promote because so many of your current ministry is leaving." - Morrison on Labor's franking tax policy.
