Time to feel some Aussie pride, minus the Southern Cross tattoos and flags worn as capes.

Everyone's favourite lumberjane Courtney Barnett has been nomintaed for a Grammy Award in the hotly contested 'Best New Artist' category.

The 28-year-old singer/songwriter from Melbourne is facing some fierce competition, going up against James Bay, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly and Meghan Trainor in the same field.
Perth psychedelic rockers Tame Impala are up for 'Best Alternative Music Album' for their record Currents.

It's their second nomination after their LP Lonersim was a contender for the same award in 2014 (they lost to Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires Of The City *hiss*).

In words best summed up on a Facebook post that read "Holy f*#k!!" Melbourne outfit Hiatus Kaiyote are also up for a gong in 'Best R&B Performance' for their banger Breathing Underwater.

The Grammys will unfold on Febuaary 15, 2016 at the Staples Centre in LA.
