$6m for new veteran PTSD centre

The government is spending $6 million on a centre to research new treatments for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The coalition has promised a better deal for veterans, with a new centre to use the latest research to develop better treatments for mental conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder.

The government will commit $6 million to the new Centenary Institute which will look for new and innovative PTSD treatments.

Health Minister Sussan Ley said the main aim of the institute will be to improve the lives of veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder as well as their families.
