Indian-Australian wins prestigious ‘Australasian Performer of the Year’ award

For Taney Jain, the journey from a ‘struggling migrant’ to a ‘million-dollar real estate agent’ was never meant to be easy. But a series of events steered him along the path that proved highly successful for him.

Meet Taney Jain who has recently won ‘Australasian Sales Performer of the Year’ award for 2017.

Taney Jain was born and brought up in Patiala-Chandigarh region of Punjab, India. He came to Australia in 2007 on a student visa.

During student life, he had to face many challenges including an initial hardship with the job search.

Mr Jain told SBS that for his initial survival, he had to do many odd jobs like any other less-skilled migrant student.

“I used to do jobs that were kind of hard to manage. Let it be cleaning dishes for a restaurant, working at a car wash or a door to door salesperson,” said Mr Jain in an interview with SBS Radio.

While talking about his journey to real estate, he told that after a few years of being a door to door salesman, he had an intention of switching his career to something stable, fast-paced and more rewarding. 

“It was about time when I met Sunil Kumar at Reliance Real Estate Werribee who encouraged me to take on the challenge to move into real estate.”

“It was my sheer determination and never to give up approach that helped me win some prestigious awards and respect in the real estate industry.”

“I am too young to be called a ‘million dollar agent’. But it sounds good given my initial financial hardship and a relatively short career of two years in real estate.”

Taney Jain recently won ‘Australasian Sales Performer of the Year 2017’ for 95 sales transactions that he did in one year.

With more than 160 finalists vying for top honours across 36 categories, the 2017 Australasian Real Estate Results Awards (ARERAs) winners were announced at a Roaring Twenties-themed gala event held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) on Monday, February 20.

For his many award winning performances, Jain recently got featured in ‘Elite Agent’ business magazine.

Mr Jain has been an invited speaker in many conferences to help and motivate young agents and new comers.

“To achieve dreams, one has to focus on training and the right kind of attitude in this industry,” said Mr Jain.
