King Charles III was crowned at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony built on ancient tradition.

Wearing his grandfather's crimson velvet robe, King Charles took an oath.

More than 2000 guests, including the royal family, faith leaders and head of State were inside the Abbey to witness the event.

On the outside, thousands of troops, tens of thousands of spectators and a smattering of protesters converged on the streets of London.

The ceremony was filled with pomp and pageantry as a rousing cheer of "God Save the King" maked the crowing of the new head of English monarchy.

Victorian Senator Jane Hume has criticised the New South Wales government for its decision not to light up the sails of the Sydney Opera House ahead of the coronation of King Charles III.

The NSW government have stated they would be keeping most landmarks in the dark for the event as an energy saving measure.

Ms Hume told Channel Nine a more effective measure would be to lower energy prices across the state.

The Federal Opposition is challenging the government to sustain any surplus it might deliver in the Federal Budget.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers hasn't confirmed speculation that there could be a surplus because of surging commodity prices.

The Coalition's Treasury spokeswoman Jane Hume says it would be easy to deliver a surplus on Tuesday night.

Exiled Liberal M-P from Victoria, Moira Deeming, has decided not to take legal action against her temporary suspension from the parliamentary party.

Ms Deeming was suspended for nine months in March for attending an anti-transgender rally in Melbourne, where neo-Nazis were seen performing the "sieg heil" salute.

Ms Deeming previously demanded Victorian Opposition Leader John Pesutto agree to issue a media statement exonerating her of being a Nazi or Nazi sympathiser by 2pm on Thursday or face legal action.

However in a statement Saturday, she clarified that she never intended to sue the Liberal Party but instead contemplated legal mediation to settle the conditions of her suspension.

The Spurs skipper headed home from Pedro Porro's cross in first-half stoppage time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to score his 25th league goal of the season, securing a 1-0 win for his side.

More significantly, Kane's record now stands at , surpassing Rooney's , meaning the England captain now places second in the league's all-time standings.
