COVID-19 update: Premiers focus on the COVID roadmap to recovery

ACT records 25 new locally acquired cases

New South Wales

NSW has recorded 961 new locally acquired cases and nine deaths.

NSW Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty said the highest numbers of cases were seen in the suburbs of concern, including Guildford, Auburn, Punchbowl, Penrith, Bankstown, Liverpool and Bossley Park.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the details on the state moving through the COVID roadmap are being finalised and will be released next week. Authorities plan to announce health measures for the unvaccinated part of the population at a later date.

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 779 new locally acquired cases and two deaths.

Premier Daniel Andrews said some restrictions will ease in regional Victoria and Metropolitan Melbourne once the state reaches 80 per cent single-dose vaccination target, which is expected to happen on Tuesday, 28 September.

The distance to travel from home will be increased to 15 km and outdoor recreation, including golf, tennis and basketball, will be allowed, subject to caps. Restrictions will also ease for personal training for fully vaccinated residents.
