Five reasons Taste le Tour 2019 is a French food field day

Beloved French chef, Gabriel Gaté is back to break up your heavy MAMIL (middle-aged man in lycra) viewing with mouth-watering reminders that you are currently not traveling through France.

His tried and tested recipes will be available here to fill the void, and here are a few reasons we can’t wait to drool over this year's coverage – a highlight of Gaté’s favourite journeys so far.

Bread

It’s no secret the French know how to have a good time with just flour and water, and Gaté’s bakery adventures make staring aggressively at fine baked goods is completely acceptable.

Cheese

The only thing that can make bread better is the addition of cheese. Gate is a self-confessed cheese chaser, so much so, that he wrote an entire article about it.

Seafood

With an ocean on either side, you could say France is the filling in a seafood sandwich. Oysters, scallops tuna and yabbies are featured in Gate’s recipes, with a heavy focus on oysters. On Bastille day seafood features heavily, and Gate aint holding back on the serving sizes.

Butter

Touring through the country dairy farms Gate the cheese chaser also sends a reminder that being a butter maker is a job that exists. It’s recommended to have a fresh baguette and cultured butter on hand while watching these episodes.

Wine

That bread and butter snack will go a treat with a glass of vino, and you might get a little thirsty watching GG sip on French champagne and fine Rieslings. Bit rude isn’t it.
